Review: War of the Worlds @ The King’s Theatre

by Mark Townsin

DUH DUH DUUUH, DUH DUH DUUUH….come on you know this one, it is of course Jeff Wayne’s musical adaptation of the seminal H.G Wells science fiction novel War of the Worlds. Tonight’s show at the Kings Theatre is lifted directly from this musical, under licence. buy drugs online

Early impressions were of a minimalist set and pretty decent Victorian costume. I was, however, distinctly underwhelmed by the early crowd scenes (plenty of seemingly uncoordinated rushing around and rhubarb-rhubarb for my taste). In fact as we approached around a third of the way in, I was worried that I would not really enjoy my evening. I genuinely love both the original book and the musical version of the story, however, the evening mostly seemed to be descending into a kind of low budget interpretive dance. Zithromax pharmacy

This all changed, with the arrival of the evening’ s fir Order Doxycyclinest real rousing musical number. ‘Forever Autumn’ finally hit and suddenly the show started to make sense. Both Kevin Redfern (playing the narrator in his later avapro years) and Pete Westmorland (playing his younger self) Viagra Soft Tabs Online performed the number admirably and it finally felt like things had gotten going. Momentum was then somewhat lost with a rather passionless rendition of ‘Thunderchild’, especially disappointing as this represents probably my favourite Buy Nexium Online Buy Viagra Professional Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed Pharmacy song from the musical. This is a song that should feel genuinely rousing, yet those heights were never really hit. Buy antibiotics online without prescription. Online Drugstore. Cheap Levitra online

Part two of the evening opened with yet more interpretive dance which I shall gloss over, as this was merely a prelude to the evening’s stand out performer. Florida codes bank Vardenafilo levitra Matt Sackman, playing Parson Nathaniel, was simply excellent. His vocals were spot on and he injected real life into his role. He was well supported by Kerry McCrohon whose almost operatic delivery as Beth worked well at this stage.

Final mention should go to John Paul McCrohon for his strong vocals on Brave New World. Levitra generico Delivery and timing here were paramount and he really didn’t put a foot wrong. I would say, in summary, that if you can persevere through the (frankly, dull) dance portions then, for fans of the musical, there is a real treat to be had here.
