Review: Sonisphere (Day Two)

words and photos by Kyle Bunkin

It would seem that the theme for Sonisphere is being woken up at near enough exactly the same time each morning by the incredibly drunk Little London and crew. Drinking, drinking, 6am cooked festival breakfast, drinking and a shitload of rain, was the newly-introduced theme for Saturday morning.

Later in the morning the thought of “oh shit, I forgot my wellies” had left me and the intensely hot sun had started to peek through the cloud (cue comedy sun burn), but most importantly, it signalled the start of the Apollo Main Stage opening and the start of some heavy hitting bands. Order Doxycycline Half a bottle of absinth in to the morning, I headed to the arena just as Sabaton were finishing, or rather, shredding their way through their last song. From what I can gather it was power metal and I was away with the Buy cozaar absinth fairies by this point so it seemed totally fitting. Following a “hog in a bap” refuel, I’m nearly human again, just in time for Anthrax. After playing last year with singer John Bush, they return this year with original vocalist Joey Belladonna and tear through classics like Madhouse, Caught in a Mosh and Indians, which included a great tribute to Ronnie James Dio and an abridged cover of Black Sabbath’s Heaven and Hell in the breakdown. With a chant of “Dio!” ringing through the arena, it was a beautiful moment to a man who played here just last year. Levitra generico

With a quick run across the site, I made it to the Bowtime Bar just intime for Rinoa, who, after blowing my cock off Buy antibiotics online without prescription. Online Drugstore.completely when I photographed them at the Edge of the Wedge earlier in the year, proceeded to power grind ol’ stumpy off some more. Brutal post metal with great sound to boot, unfortunately, unlike Deaf Havana the night before not nearly enough people to witness it, if you Buy Doxycycline Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed missed it, gutted. buy drugs online Over on the main arena, Papa Roach have hit the stage and are surprisingly good. Levitra reviews They’re halfway through single Lifeline which sounds pretty good. Florida codes bank Now that they’ve left rap metal behind they’re actually writing some anthemic songs for the masses, which doesn’t really float my boat but it’s what’s needed for a festival. At the front of the crowd, there’s a lot of jumping up and down and they’re working it, finale Last Resort whips up a mosh pit and it feels like the pace has finally been set for the festival at last.

Surprise act for the weekend are Good Charlotte who really do tick all the “WTF” boxes but actually draw a massive crowd as everyone remembers what it was like to be 15 again. It’s pop punk by numbers but done well enough even with a dubious Blink 182 cover thrown in for good measure. It feels like I’m watching a bad battle of the bands, but secretly I’m enjoying it. The beauty of the two mainstages at Sonisphere is that there is a mere five minutes between each act, so you literally only have to turn around to catch the next band, which is great as you don’t have to endure the tedious setting up times you’d normally experience at a festival. Unfortunately, next is Apocalyptica and while I have some love for brutal classical music, I really can’t be dealing with a fucking cello screaming at me across a field, so I proceed to drink and eat some noodles (Hot Wok noodles might be the savior of any festival) so that’s all good. Placebo play a good set of slightly less obvious tracks and go down well, order cheap pills I’m a little disappointed it wasn’t more of a ‘greatest hits’ set but not being the biggest fan of Molko and co, maybe it was lost on me. I dash back to the Jagermeister stage and Buy Plavix Online it’s filling up nicely for newly reformed, UK postmetal legends Earthtone 9 who are heavy as hell but most importantly look super happy as a band to be back together and shredding people’s faces off.

The day really picked up the pace when headliners Mötley Crüe took to the Saturn Stage, which this year is probably double the size it was last year. Coming out to a ridiculous city back drop and pyrotechnics, the Crüe launch in to Kickstart My Heart and have a firm festival set. Shout at the Devil, Dr. Feelgood and finale Girls Girls Girls, exactly what I want to see.

The big attraction of today comes in the form of German Industrial lunatics Rammstein who make their first outdoor/festival appearance in the UK and set the bar insanely high for the next day. I’m not a massive fan of Rammstein’s music but their stage show, to use a cliché, is jammed to the rafters with German precision. Vardenafilo levitra Not only was it ridiculously heavy, it had the fireworks to match – 200 tonnes worth. I’ll be honest, I’m not easily disturbed but I had a nightmare about it that night (I blame the absinth) and that really says all you need to know.
