The Kraken Wakes; it was The Registry, it’s now been transformed. Order Doxycycline Formerly an unofficial extension to the halls of residence and decorated in Buy musclerelaxant drugs finest canary, it’s now a cocktail of hipster hangout, your Granny’s lounge and Buy Wellbutrin SR Online Pharmacy No Prescription Needed “craft hour” at playgroup. A lot of thought has gone into the decor; the sofas are comfy, there are fishing nets chock-full of decorative bream and I was mesmerised by the twinkly lighting. Vardenafilo levitra

Last weekend the inaugural Portsmouth Club NME hosted a DJ set by Metronomy and Dai was there:

The Registry was steeped in the history of Portsmouth University. Around the Buy Levitra Online country there are people in the corridors of power, whose eyes still glass over at the mention of Yellowcards and pound a pint Tuesdays. When the student union was ransacked by bureaucracy and had the fun surgically removed, the Reg stepped up as the unofficial replacement. It was the sole reason for more thirds and 2:2s than anything else and if people could’ve moved in they’d have been queuing round the block with their sleeping bags. The Kraken Wakes should work; it is the only pub of its kind for miles, it’ s ho Florida codes bank sting a Club NME night and has some fantastic events on its books. But if every booked act has (DJ set) in miniscule writing beside it, the place might just stay empty. And that would be a real shame. Levitra generico buy drugs online

Sitting at a table round the other side of the pub to the DJ booth, anyone could have been pressing play for all I knew. That’s the issue. These are bands that have cut their teeth on the gigging circuit, making a name for themselves by playing music live. If your butcher did an evening job as a dog groomer, you wouldn’t take little Bruno along would you? Or wouldn’t allow a gardener to give you a short back and sides on the basis that he did a wonderful job on your azaleas. Buy antibiotics online without prescription. Online Drugstore.

This weekend was my turn, so to provide a comparison to a DJ night, I went along to see The Shutka Champions play their first gig. The guys have been around the (Portsmouth) block collectively for about 125 years but Friday night was the debut of this incarnation. The frequent trips to India are reflected in their songs and Zithromax pharmacythe use of a squeeze box provides an interesting background but at points during the set I was reminded of the Summer of 1992 – relaxed and with more than a passing nod to the Happy Mondays. The Shutka Champions play The Banstand on Saturday 3rd July and they will transfer well to an outdoor stage, in the sun, with copious amounts of cider and sunblock. Even the major Portsmouth powercut didn’t stop the al fresco drinking – thanks to the bar staff for providing tea lights and candles :)

The Kraken Wakes is a venue of two halves and may prove to be pretty versatile – the DJ arena being in the main area and the stage tucked up round the corner. Over the Summer, there’ll be a plethora pub quizzes, Sunday roasts, bands, gaming competitions, DJ nights and jumble sales.
